Barry Hampton grew up in a loving home where Christian principles were taught, but knew nothing of the Bible. It wasn't until he met his lovely wife Brenda that he began to learn things in the Bible. On August 24, 1983 after two months of dating at church 3-4 times a week, he finally saw himself lost and trusted the Lord Jesus Christ and the work he did on the cross.
Things began to change in his life. More and more, he wanted to preach and teach the truths that he was learning under Bro. E.C. Moore in Pensacola, FL. After eight months Barry, Brenda and their son Jason moved to Houston, TX where he worked with K-mart Corporation as a manager. The Lord blessed the young couple with a daughter that they named Jaime.
Barry had already started teaching Bible classes around the Houston area, but while attending a Bible Conference in Pensacola in 1986, Barry heard the call into the ministry. He went back to Houston with only one desire, to preach the word. He put in his 2 weeks notice and started preaching.
He preached at the Star of Hope Mission and Woman Center in Houston, Texas. A year later he went to work at Berean Bible Study Assoc. with Bro. E.C. Moore. Six months later Bro. Moore offered the Bible Class he had started in Montgomery, Alabama.
Pastor Hampton has been the pastor of Grace Bible Church for 16 years. Pastor Hampton and his wife Brenda grew the work that Bro. E.C. Moore began just years before in a Bible Class. That class was the start of Grace Bible Church in Montgomery, AL.
After being in the ministry full time for a couple of years, the Lord gave another child to them- Jonathan. This child, although no different than the other two, would be, only in the fact that he was sent home to be with the Lord at the age of nine. This was a great loss to all who knew him. Pastor and Mrs. Hampton stood on the scriptures and gloried in his death. They both knew he was much better at home with the Lord.
Pastor Hampton started the Absolute Truth TV ministry in 2001 that airs on WNCF (ABC) channel 32 Sunday mornings at 8:30 A.M. Since the beginning of his ministry, the focus has not changed: To bring people to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and help them come to the knowledge of the truth. With his gift of teaching and love of the Word he has touched a few lives.
