My heart is broken, torn apart: I've lost a friend today.
But what a joy to know that we will meet again one day!
We sorrow not as others, which have not hope and peace;
For we know that this body's just a temporary lease.
Our sins - they are forgiven; our lives - they are His own.
And one day soon, we hope that God will call in our short loan.
Oh what a gift eternal - my future is secure!
My soul, bought with the blood of Christ, shall evermore endure!
While this friend so dear to me, will leave a gaping sore,
Still I rejoice – he’s left behind that earthly robe he wore.
And he won’t suffer with his flesh – his legs won’t hinder him.
He’ll never struggle for a tune or to transpose a hymn.
But now at rest, he’s in the arms of Christ in Whom he’s found,
Until that blessed hope appears with rapturous trumpet sound!
And that’s when those now left behind will see the ones they lost,
Because our precious Lord and Savior died upon a cross
To pay for sins He did not owe and open heaven’s gate
To anyone who trusts in Him before it is too late.
Accept His gift. Call out to God – He’ll save your soul this hour!
Then you can share the peace I have through Jesus’ saving power!
And when the rapture comes – His children meet him in the air,
We will all rejoice, because you, too, will see us there,
Along with my dear friend whose sleeping, never more to grieve.
And that’s because, as he oft said, “All you got to do is believe.”
